Follow these steps after you download the module package from the project page.

  1. Extract bueditor directory to your modules directory.
  2. Enable the module at module administration page.
  3. Add/edit editors and buttons at: admin/settings/bueditor.
  4. There is a default editor you can use as a starting point.
  5. You may install IMCE module to use it as a file/image browser in editor's image & link dialogs.

IMCE with BUEditor; how to

Can you explain the procedure or post the code used to get IMCE to play with BUEditor?

By the way, this is a fantastic project and sorely needed. It speeds things up tremendously. Thanks for this great contribution.

this was not documented;you

this was not documented;
you probably asking it for 4.7 which requires imce 4.7 development version.
just download and activate it, nothing else is needed.
dont forget to refresh or clean cache, if you are currently using imce 4.7-1.1

Drupal v.5.1 ; IMCE ; BUEditor

I am using drupal v.5.1. IMCE and BUEditor. I installed IMCE after I saw your demo. In that demo, when you select the add image icon in the tool bar, a dialog pops up (normal), but the IMCE browder is integrated with it.

When I installed IMCE (after installing BUEditor) It added the links for IMCE at the bottom of the textarea, but did not integrate with the popup dialog in BUEditor when selecting the add image tool.

I hope this is the right forum to be getting into this kind of detail.

Thanks,

Tim

that's strange

i couldnt reproduce this with the default setup.
and your provided information doesnt give any clue about what could be wrong.
think about any detail that is worth to mention and you might have skipped.

My Installation

OK, It appears it was ONLY on this particular install. I tar' ed the site, untar' ed into a fresh site, created the database, ran the install, activated the BUEditor module, activated IMCE and it workes Great ! : - ). Sorry for the "fret" Sometimes strange unexplainable things happen. I should have double checked first, but I am still new at this type of work. Thanks again for this wonderful editor.

In summary, these instructions are not adequste for me.
Where do I put it and what do I do when I get it there?

Extract bueditor directory to your modules directory.
Enable the module at module administration page.
Add/edit editors and buttons at: admin/settings/bueditor.
There is a default editor you can use as a starting point.
You may install IMCE module to use it as a file/image browser in editor's image & link dialogs.

have you ever installed a module?

First, thanks for the prompt

First, thanks for the prompt reply.

Ever installed a module: No.

I have loaded the devside (locasl host) suite. It works.

I also have 5.1 running on BlueHost. See my site:"donrichards.net")

My detailed comments are detailed elsewhere on this site (near by) but let me elaborate and try to be specific:

Where do I put the BLUedit tar or zip?

I want to use it generically as well as wthin my Drupal environment. By generically I mean as an editor in a filemanager.

byw: I'm going with your BUEdit first. If it works for me (as well as it seems to here), I plan to publicize it widely as a generic editor. Do you have any objections or restrictions I should be aware of (in relation to publcizing and distributing it)?

Thanks again for your prompt response.

Donz

you should extract bueditor

you should extract bueditor directory into modules directory of your drupal installation.
(the file bueditor.module should have the path: /modules/bueditor/bueditor.module)

then you should go to module settings of drupal and enable bueditor. then you should be able to use it while creating content.

Thanks again. It just

Thanks again.
It just doesn't work.
Your BUEdit.tar creates a directory named BUEdit.1.1.1 (?) dot tar.
I have automatically created multiple directories (and subordinate directories, and have deleted them. to clean things up.

path: /modules/bueditor/bueditor.module)?

What is this?

What is the preamble heading before "/modules/. . .

And what in the world is "bueditor.module" ??? Atre yu sure you mean "bueditor dot module" ?

That construct is not in the zip or tar files I downloaded.

I have buedit under C:/www/webapps/drupal/modules/bueditor.tar5. 1.1.1/?
(I'm using Apache "localhost".)
Obviously, these zip or tar files don't create the correct directory structure and install.correctly.

Just tell me what files you want, and where you want them. I can set it up. What I can't do is read the mind of these crazy installation scripts and bogus file names (with extra dots).

Thanks for the attention.

I must be an idiot, an angry idiot . . .

I'm back. (from other pressing business . . )

I have bitmap screenshots demostrating the following facts: ( I can email them to you if you wish.(?) )

When BUEdit is untared from the modules directory, BUEdit (untar's) into a subdir that it crreates named "BUEditor-5.x-1.0.tar"

The files it creates within that subdir are: one is named "unknown". Inside "unkniown) (that file) the first line states blueditor, etc. The (unknown) file size is 110k.

That directory also conatins two other subdirs: These are "icons" and "library".
In addition there is a (1kb) buttons file (microsoft excell file), and a 1kb readme text file.

IMCE also untar's to a directory it names "IMCE-5.x-1.0.tar", etc..

The "untar" utility used was "JustZipIt.exe"

Is this what you expected (knew)?

It is clear why nothing works for me?

This is the directory

This is the directory structure and files of my bueditor installation:

Bueditor directory structure

If you cant see these files in your downloaded bueditor package use another archive utility like 7-zip.

Quadruple thanks. You have

Quadruple thanks. You have saved my sanity.

I'm looking for 7-zip now. The directory structure and files I have differ significatly from what you picture shows.
(IMCE is mesed up also.)

byw what program did you utilize to capture/print the directory structure and files?

I'll be using BUEditor later today (if my luck hold up . . . )

Hi All Have installed

Hi All

Have installed BUEditor 4.7.x-1.0 and IMCE 4.7.x-2.0 and cannot seem to get them to work together. The only time the browse button is displayed when clicking the insert/edit picture button from the BUEditor tool bar is if I am logged in as user 1. Logged in as any other user this browse button is never displayed even though I have granted all IMCE permissions to the authenticated user role. Any ideas, as from what I understand all I should have to do after BUEditor and IMCE installtion is;

1) Assign BUEditor editor for each role (I just used the default)

2) Set IMCE permissions for each role (I have set IMCE view permissions for each role)

Hi- I am in the same boat

Hi-

I am in the same boat and have another problem

I am on Drupal 4.7 and downloaded the package for BUEditor, installed in modules, activated in admin modules and saved configuration and then configured permissions in settings. The toolbar is now appearing in new content creation pages.

Problems:
1. Field displays in left nav: However, the 'Available Issues' and 'Proof Readers' approval sections are displaying twice in the content creation pages. Once where expected in the main cent column and once as overlays of existing blocks in the left nav. I am using the Blue Breeze theme... any ideas on how to get rid of the field duplication overlays in left nav?

2. IMCE Not Integrated with BUEditor: I then downloaded and installed the IMCE package and installed it in modules, enabled in modules admin and configured user permissions.

No IMCE image functions are diusplaying with the BUEditor toolbar. The normal BUEditor image handling button and pop-up remain.

Any ideas?

Thx.

Chris

Do you know of a g2image

Do you know of a g2image (Image inserter for Gallery2) button or implementation for BUEditor?

Many thanks,
Gareth

Hi there: I have and use

Hi there:

I have and use (awesome!) the BUEditor at flashpanos.com.

I'm confused, though, as to how do I enable it for comments areas? It seems to only appear on initial post, or advanced editing.

Help!

Thanks,

Patrick
